Some of the ways VernonRato have been able to help

Successful Accreditations: AEO Pre-UCC

Problem:

A manufacturing company required AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) status and gave a completion time of 18 months to successfully apply for the status.

Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status is an internationally recognised quality mark that shows a company’s:

  • role in the international supply chain is secure
  • customs controls and procedures are efficient and meet EU standards

While it is not mandatory, having this status gives quicker access to some simplified customs procedures and, in some cases, the right to ‘fast-track’ your shipments through some customs and safety and security procedures.

Solution:

Following receipt of the application, it was thoroughly examined and requirements for both the company and VernonRato Limited were gathered.  During a meeting between all heads of department and VernonRato Limited, the full details of AEO status were detailed, and the expectations and responsibilities of both the company and contractor were set.

Having gathered and collated all necessary information, the site and security of the building was assessed, as HMRC have specific requirements regarding this which must be met when a company is audited, in order to receive a successful application.

Following these assessments, recommendations on improvements were submitted to the Directors, who agreed to implement the proposed course of action.

Results:

When the company underwent a HMRC audit, auditors were impressed with both the site security and documentation.  A few weeks later the company received their AEO accreditation, 4 months ahead of schedule.
